About Me
Journalist, radio host, music fanatic. These are a few simple words that define who I am. But they don’t tell the whole story.

I moved from Southern California to mid-Missouri because storytelling is my passion and I know the J-School at Mizzou has no peer. One of the first places I sought at Mizzou was the campus radio station, where I have hosted a different show every semester for four years. Where better to use my personal discography of 20,000 songs and my research on subgenres from Australian rap to West Coast punk? I’m running out of time at KCOU, but I still haven’t run out of material.

From the newsroom, storytelling has taken me from the heartland of the United States to the headlands of Denmark. As an exchange student, I spent six months based in Denmark and traveled across Europe covering stories on the European Union, contemporary feminism and more. My focus is convergence journalism so I can use video, text and still photography to their greatest effect, driving each story to new heights.

In the same way, I hope to build a career that combines my interests in journalism and music, enabling me to create new pathways in each.

KCOU 88.1 FM / Program Host
As a program host, I have learned how to develop engaging playlists for listeners with my own music as well as the music on rotation. I have hosted four semester-long shows and participated on three other shows. When not on air, I routinely submit recently released songs for the station’s weekly rotation playlist of new music.

Student Reporter
As a student journalist in the convergence concentration, I have worked on stories across Columbia as a member of a team as well as by myself. I have learned during my time as a student how to research and produce a story across multimedia platforms as well as how to produce a story on a mobile device.
